Description
The Trefor breaker wagon model kit is based on two foot gauge wagons used by the Trefor Quarries (formerly “Trevor”) in the Lleyn Peninsula of North Wales to transport dressed granite paving setts from the cutting sheds on the quarry levels up on the mountain side, down a roped worked incline and then locomotive hauled to a coastal jetty for hand loading into ships. The “missing” side facilitated easy hand loading and stacking of the setts.
In 1914 when the market for these setts declined, the quarry switched to the production of crushed granite road stone. The breaker wagons were hand loaded with boulders and small pieces of stone at the work face and then taken down an incline to the lowest quarry level. Here they were tipped into a new stone “mill” where the boulders were crushed into road stone. This stone was then taken to an improved jetty complete with wagon tipplers by new “mill wagons”.
The quarry was rail operated between 1850 and 1962 and a number of locomotives were used including De-Wintons and latterly Hunslet diesels. So there are plenty of modelling possibilities.
3D Printed Body
The one piece body and chassis is 3D printed in resin to provided a “layer free” print that simply needs painting.
Steel Wheels
The kit comes complete with steel 11 mm diameter wheels with pin point bearings

The wagon comes with NEM 362 coupler pockets so you can choose your preferred type of coupling
