Description
The Ruston 44HP locomotive was produced in Lincoln between 1936 and 1942 and was the first to be shipped with Ruston’s own diesel engine as opposed to a Lister engine. These relatively large narrow gauge locomotives were produced in a variety of gauges from 18 inches up to 42 inches and were found on many industrial, mineral and quarry railways in this country and around the world. Several examples have survived into preservation (but few are still in original form). We are also selling a TR “Midlander” version of this locomotive.
Our model locomotive features four wheel drive from a 7 volt motor worm and belt drive. We have found the model runs quite happily either on either a 6 or 9 volt battery. The kit has been designed for easy assembly with the major components being held together with nuts and bolts; thus greatly simplifying painting.
This kit is available in both 32mm and 45mm gauges. (N.B. the 45mm gauge chassis is wider than the 32mm ),
This kit is also available in Ready-To-Run form here.
