Description
Ransomes and Rapier of Ipswich first manufactured narrow gauge diesel locomotives in 1932 using 2 and 3 cylinder Ailsa Craig engines. Unfortunately records prior to 1934 have been lost but it appears that about 100 of these locomotives were built up to the end of 1939. The kit is based on the 3 cylinder (26hp) version, unfortunately none survived into preservation.
Our Ransomes and Rapier locomotive features four wheel drive chain drive and a 12 volt micro motor and gearbox. The kit has been designed for easy assembly with the major components being held together with nuts and bolts; thus greatly simplifying painting. The bonnet is held in place by 4 magnets to allow easy access to the models battery compartment
