The Ruston 20DL locomotive Susan was produced in 1941 by Ruston and Hornsby and delivered to the War Department at the Eastriggs ammunition dump.

The locomotive worked at various MOD locations until 1989 when she was sold into private ownership. It is now located at the Old Kiln railway where she has been extensively rebuilt and is now in regular service again.

Susan was a very early example of the 20DL locomotive and was built with the 1930’s straight sided bonnet rather than the slope sided bonnet most of the class displayed.

This is an updated version of our previous Ruston 20DL locomotive kit features four wheel drive chain drive  to steel driving wheels and a 12 volt  micro motor and gearbox. The kit has been designed for easy assembly with the major components being held together with nuts and bolts; thus greatly simplifying painting.

The kit has been designed to be powered by a rechargeable PP3 battery. This is held in place by a battery clamp which allows the battery to project through the bonnets bottom allowing easy access for the recharging lead

Price £130. Kit features :

  • prebuilt and tested working four wheel drive chassis (no soldering required). This chassis may be purchased separately here.
  • 3D  resin printed body components
  • Over a dozen high quality “SLS” nylon detailing components
