Description
This 1/19 scale kit is a freelance engine shed inspired by several photos in the Industrial Railways Societies books on industrial railway sheds. Our aim was to produce an engine shed which would not look out of place next to our other wooden station buildings. The building has no base so that you can easily lift the building to get to any locomotive within the shed. Also the office or mess room may be assembled on either side of the main building.
Please click on “Product Dimensions” to the left for size details We now produce a longer version of this engine shed if this one is not big enough for you.
If you would like to assemble your engine shed as “through road” shed you will need an additional set of doors. These are available here.
Plywood Construction
The main structural parts of this kit are laser cut from 3mm poplar plywood to give that real wood feeling to the model. The main walls are double thickness to give the building greater weight.
Working Doors
This kit features working main doors, the working hinges and door catch being 3D printed nylon. The doors measure 15 cm wide by 18 cm tall . (N.B. we have increased their size since the Warwick show)
High Impact Polystyrene Roof
The corrugated roof overlay is vacuum formed HIPS sheet which has the virtue of being completely rain proof. Window panes are also cut from the same material.
Note: If the modeler intends to leave this building out between running sessions then we highly recommend thoroughly varnishing or painting this structure together with the use of a waterproof PVA adhesive (neither of which is not included in this kit).
