Description
‘Nutty’ is a specialised, chain drive Sentinel locomotive that was made in the 1920s for brickworks use. Their prime requirement was to be very squat in height (5’2″ in fact)! Although originally built to a gauge of 2’11”, it was re-gauged to 2’6″ some years ago and it ran on the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway for a while. Since then it has move around a bit, chiefly on static display. It can now be found at the Leyton Buzzard Railway where it is on display at the Stonehenge Works station.
Nutty has been rebuilt several times over the years but the designer (Harry Billmore) has tried to make the kit as close to its condition at Llanfair as he can remember it !
We are selling this model locomotive kit in both 32 mm and 45 mm gauges
Price £195. Kit features :
Prebuilt Chassis
Our Sentinel locomotive kit features a prebuilt, four wheel drive chassis, tested and ready for you to fit into place when you build the kit (no soldering required). The chassis is powered though a 12 volt motor worm and chain drive. We have found the model runs quite happily either on either a 6 or 9 volt battery as well.
Speed Controller Included
The chassis also features a speed controller. The control shaft for this protrudes through the top bonnet in the water filler position. A 3D printed filler cap fits onto the shaft giving a convenient on-off and speed control of the locomotive. (The direction switch is tucked under the left hand cab floor).
High Quality 3D printed body parts
The locomotive body is a combination of laser cut MDF “plate work” and SLA 3D printed resin components e.g. the cab roof and boiler. This 3D printing process produces significantly smoother components than other processes and is comparable to high quality resin casting.
High quality “SLS” nylon detailing components
The kit includes over a dozen high quality “SLS” nylon detailing components, including brake wheel, reversing lever and buffing gear
Nutty is also available in ready to run form here ( coming soon) .
