Description
This wooden coal tub kit has been inspired by various on-line videos of a Taiwanese coal mine where these little tubs can be seen being hand shunted by a couple of local labourers into a wagon tippler and being hauled by a very Heath Robinson “locomotive”. However, the design is very generic and would have been easily built in your industrial line’s “works”.
3D printed riveted body strapping plates
These are produced by “Selective Laser Sintering” in an engineering grade nylon and many customers have assumed that they’re castings rather than 3D printed. The parts come pre-coloured in “charcoal black” and provide an attractive and rugged addition to the model. The “rivets” poke through small location holes in the wagon walls to aide alignment and to provide raised “rivet heads” on the inside of the wagon
Laser cut body parts
The body parts are cut from a poplar plywood which is easy to glue and paint. Plank lines are engraved on both sides of the wagon walls so the wagon looks good even if you choose not to add a suitable wagon load.
Choice of nylon couplers
A choice of couplings is included in this kit. You can either assemble the wagon with side “dumb buffers” and a central hook for a 3 link chain or if you prefer a centre buffer (for greater compatibility with the rest of your stock) , a pair of Penrhyn style wagon buffers are also included.
Choice of wheels
This kit is available with both steel or nylon disk wheels
